Biography:

Ziyue (Monica) Piao is a Ph.D. student in Music Technology at McGill University supervised by Prof. Marcelo M. Wanderley since 2022 fall. Her previous research focuses on designing multimodal interfaces to teach singing learners to breathe scientifically. She aims at creating playful interaction systems for music learning, composition, performance, and more generally in creative process and well-being by better combining the power of tactile and visual perception in the musical world.

Before joining McGill University, she obtained her BEng in Digital Media Technology at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2019, and MA in Culture & Creative Industry Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2022. She previously served as a Guzheng Player in SJTU Rongchang Chinese and Western Orchestra, and as an Alto singer in SJTU Chamber Choir.
